Asma believes science shapes students’ daily lives and decision-making. She views adolescence as a critical period for brain development and aims to cultivate skills like problem-solving and critical thinking in her students. During the lockdown, Asma quickly adapted to remote learning, finding success with flipped learning and PechaKucha presentations, which made her lessons more engaging. She proposed a “teacher of the day” activity, allowing students to be the teachers, present topics and use teaching aids. Despite technical issues during the pandemic, Asma and her team continued to support students through recorded materials and encouragement, enhancing their virtual learning experience.

“Flipped learning made my classes super interactive. I was [also] introduced to the concept of PechaKucha. PechaKucha literally means to chat in Japanese. It is like a show and tell concept.”
