Chunyan Yang is an Associate Professor of School Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research examines how students, educators, and schools interact with their ecological contexts to cultivate individual and collective resilience when facing risks and adversities, including bullying, mental health challenges, and the marginalization of diverse identities in learning environments

Grounded in socio-ecological and transformative SEL frameworks, her recent work integrates robotics and participatory design to promote equitable learning opportunities. Chunyan collaborates closely with school districts and community partners to develop scalable, human-centered interventions that strengthen wellbeing, engagement, and inclusive, thriving learning communities.
