Akito Kamei

Full-time Research Professor, Universidad Panamericana

Akito Kamei is a full-time professor at Universidad Panamericana, School of Government and Economics. His research focuses on development economics, with an emphasis on health, education, and labor markets in low- and middle-income countries. He uses rigorous empirical methods, including randomized controlled trials and large-scale studies, to address policy-relevant questions. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Development Innovation Lab at the University of Chicago, where he led research on clean water and public health across Kenya, India, Nigeria, and Uganda. He has also conducted research on education, urban poverty, and labor markets.
