Renaud Comba

Renaud outlines an initiative launched in 2014 to enhance school accountability and improve foundational literacy and numeracy in 18 countries. The project uses a feedback loop to inform schools of their performance compared to others. Renaud also explains UNICEF’s positive deviance research in 13 countries, which identifies effective local solutions by examining behaviours in school leadership, classrooms, and community interactions. Teachers are involved in data collection and sharing practices. Renaud highlights the project’s unique focus on leveraging contextualised, cost-effective local solutions to address global education challenges.
