When Mark taught international students preparing for university, he drew from his own challenging educational experiences to inform his teaching approach. Frustrated by the lack of support he received as a student, he now emphasises building student confidence and valuing all opinions in his classroom. Mark uses open-ended questions and scaffolded lessons to create a supportive environment. He recalls a notable success where a shy student, initially struggling, gave an impressive presentation on body piercings and tattoos. Mark also incorporates interactive activities to make learning enjoyable and encourage student engagement.
