Elevating the teaching profession to improve education
Carlos leads the Secretariat of the International Task Force on Teachers at UNESCO. Teachers are important for achieving the sustainable development goals, but there is a global shortage of teachers and a need for quality, inclusive education. The Teacher Task Force has three main actions: knowledge production, advocacy, and policy learning. The Teacher Task Force works to address teacher shortages, improve working conditions, and promote teacher voices in education policymaking. Carlos wants to reimagine teaching as a collaborative effort to elevate the profession and attract more teachers globally.
