Silvia Brem uses a multimodal, child-friendly approach combining behavior, EEG, MRI, and neuromodulation to study brain development, learning-related plasticity, and neurocognitive mechanisms in children with and without neurodevelopmental or psychiatric disorders. A major focus is on reading acquisition and learning disorders, investigating how children learn and how the brain adapts through experience and intervention. Her work aims to identify early markers of learning difficulties, advance prediction and diagnosis, develop and evaluate interventions. She collaborates internationally at the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, psychiatry, and education, with the overarching goal of translating neuroscientific findings into meaningful improvements for children with learning challenges.
