Jorge Cuartas

Jorge Cuartas is a Colombian scholar whose research advances early childhood development, examines the developmental consequences and prevention of violence against children, and explores the intersection of climate science and human development. He is Assistant Professor at New York University, Researcher at Universidad de los Andes, and Co-Director of Fundación Apapacho. His work has been published in The Lancet, Nature Human Behaviour, and other leading journals, and has received numerous prestigious recognitions, including the 2026-2028 Jacobs CIFAR Research Fellowship. He has served as a consultant to UNICEF, the World Bank, and the Government of Colombia. Jorge holds a PhD and EdM in Human Development from Harvard University and an MSc in Economics from Universidad de los Andes.
