Transforming learning in a remote village
Houdeja teaches in the remote village of Tamerza in Tunisia, where education is the primary form of recreation for children due to limited resources. Recognising the challenges, Houdeja volunteered to teach extra hours to address her students’ language struggles. She transformed her classroom into a vibrant, welcoming space, incorporating interactive activities like games, singing, and dancing. Her innovative approach helped her 10-year-old students engage deeply with English, even in their first encounters with the language. Over time, her students formed a strong bond with her, expressing their appreciation through surprise parties and heartfelt gestures, making the classroom a joyful, supportive environment.

“I revolutionized their classical teaching methods pedagogically and physically, making classrooms more unorthodox and empowering.”
