Matusz is an experimental psychologist and cognitive neuroscientist who is interested in how adults and children process information in naturalistic environments. In particular, he studies brain and cognitive processes involved in attention to, and the learning of, multi-sensory information, as well as the role of these processes in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of sensory and cognitive disorders. His work combines rigorous experimental tasks, technological advances and the use of electroencephalography (EEG) as a tool for brain imaging. He advocates for increased participation in science by people from underrepresented backgrounds.
