Gulseli Baysu
Associate Professor of Social Psychology, Queen’s University Belfast

Gülseli Baysu is an Associate Professor of Social Psychology at Queen’s University Belfast. She completed her PhD in psychology at Middle East Technical University in Türkiye. Her research focuses on cultural diversity, migration, and intergroup relations, with particular emphasis on identity-based interventions that foster belonging and reduce inequality among minoritised youth in education and psychological well-being. 

She has led multiple international projects, including cross-national studies on school diversity climates and interventions to improve intergroup relations in classrooms across England, Northern Ireland, Germany and Belgium, as well as a participatory project on LGBTQIA+ youth well-being and activism in Türkiye. Her work integrates longitudinal and cross-national research with applied interventions co-developed with NGOs, schools, and policymakers to ensure both cultural relevance and real-world impact. 

Since 2023, she has served as co-chair of IRISE, Queen’s network for international and racially minoritised staff, and she is the elected Diversity Officer on the Executive Committee of the European Association of Social Psychology.
