Benjamin Herold is a journalist and author who explores America’s “beautiful and busted” public education system. Benjamin’s award-winning beat reporting, feature writing, and investigative exposés have appeared in Education Week, the PBS NewsHour, National Public Radio (including the public radio station WHYY in Philadelphia), the Hechinger Report, Huffington Post, and the Public School Notebook. His beat coverage, feature writing, and investigative exposés have all garnered first-place awards from the Education Writers Association, and he recently published his first book, Disillusioned: Five Families and the Unraveling of America’s Suburbs (Penguin Press). Benjamin holds a master’s degree in urban education from Temple University in Philadelphia, where he lives.
