Melise teaches math to teenagers at risk of dropping out of a crowded public school in Brazil. Despite the challenges of working with students who are significantly behind their peers, Melise innovates to make learning engaging and relevant. She uses practical, hands-on methods, such as measuring square meters using old magazines to help students understand mathematical concepts. A memorable lesson involved students using square meters to measure their own bodies, which made the learning experience interactive and fun. Melise’s approach helped students grasp essential math skills and fostered a sense of importance and engagement.
